Producer, DC Bureau

Role Purpose:

The Producer works hand-in-hand with correspondents generating story ideas, setting up interviews, researching and gathering information. Candidates must be able to work weekends. They also must have the flexibility to work various shifts and travel as news warrants.

Job Duties:

  • Produce news packages for Special Report w/ Bret Baier
  • Produce reporter live shots for daytime, primetime and weekend programming
  • Work with television news crews in the field to cover events and prepare live reports in and around the Washington, DC area

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of broadcast experience
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Understanding of tapeless workflow in a newsroom
  • Strong editorial judgment and logistical skills
  • Solid knowledge of current events, national politics and the DC area
  • Knowledge of or experience covering national politics and/or Congress is a plus
  • Familiarity with iNews a plus
  • Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced 24-hour news environment
