Associate Producer, Fox News Halftime Report

Role Purpose: The associate producer is responsible for assisting in gathering, organizing and writing the daily Fox News Halftime Report.  The note is distributed each afternoon providing our viewers/users with a one-stop document that outlines the stories that Fox is watching, reporting on and developing throughout the day.

Job Duties:

  • Gather, organize and generate a list of the most important political stories of the day
  • Write a draft daily, consisting of succinct original writes and re-writes that highlight essential elements of reporting by Fox News and other outlets.
  • Copy edit final draft of Fox News Halftime Report
  • Post Fox News Halftime Report to Foxnews.com and distribute as political newsletter to email subscribers
  • Set up political guests and book studios for Power Play segment on Foxnews.com

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years experience in print or television new
  • Strong writer, with solid editorial depth in current events
  • Familiarity with the full spectrum of internet reporting sources, including major news organizations, online publications, blogs, and social media
  • Ability to exercise news judgment in identifying and culling stories with audience appeal over a scope ranging from major political topics of the day, to campaign news, to water cooler stories
  • Internet, social media aggregation skills
  • Familiarity with AP writing style 
  • Strong editorial judgment and logistical skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and intense atmosphere
  • Strong communication skills
  • Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity
  • Familiarity with iNews a plus
  • Understanding of tapeless workflow in a newsroom, a plus
