Associate Producer, America’s News HQ
Job Description:
Seeking an Associate Producer who will work with both with America’s News HQ and in the Washington Newsroom. This is a weekend position. Primary responsibilities include finding video, logging video, and working with editors to ensure the highest possible visual and editorial quality of tape production. Duties also include working with producers and anchors writing scripts for air, pitching story ideas, developing segments, and booking guests for the show.
This person will also work in the newsroom and will play an important role in the gathering of editorial information and video material for a fast paced 24-hour news environment. Duties in the newsroom include assisting reporters and producers in gathering video and picking sound bites for use on air. They also include attending and/or logging news conferences; and conducting interviews of newsmakers, both over the phone and in person. Associate Producers are responsible for performing all duties associated with the logistics of the above tasks, such as arranging travel, hiring crews, studios, and/or means of transmission. Candidates should be willing to travel.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of broadcast experience
• Good editorial judgment as well as strong logistical skills
• Knowledge of national politics and the DC area
• The ability to work well in a fast paced and intense atmosphere
• Familiarity with iNews
• Flexibility to work various shifts when needed (must work/be available to work weekends)
• Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity
